Natural care for itchy dogs in Singapore: a sensible daily plan

West Highland White Terrier scratching its side in a summer garden, how to stop dog itching naturally in Canada

When a dog keeps licking its paws, “natural itch care” can sound like a simple alternative to a complicated treatment plan. The term is not a diagnosis, however, and natural ingredients still need appropriate use. In Singapore, begin with the dog's actual routine and keep everyone caring for it on the same page.

Use observations instead of assumptions

Ask the household, walker and daycare team to record scratching, meals, baths and new products. A change after a walk is useful information, not proof of grass allergy. A clean-looking coat does not exclude fleas, and an unusual smell does not diagnose a yeast problem.

Arrange veterinary advice for persistent itch, recurring ear discomfort or interrupted sleep. Seek prompt assessment for pain, bleeding, discharge, spreading lesions or a dog that seems unwell. Facial swelling or difficulty breathing is urgent. Do not wait for weeks of supplements while the skin deteriorates.

Agree a bathing plan

Properly selected topical care can have a useful role. The ICADA guideline describes an individualised approach; a mild cleanser and a prescribed medicated product are not necessarily doing the same job.

Kohepets lists Perfect Coat oatmeal shampoo and Buddycare oatmeal shampoo. These are local products to compare by their labels, not a clinical ranking. Confirm suitability and frequency with the vet, and share the instructions with the groomer or helper.

Check the home environment thoughtfully

Review laundry fragrance, floor-cleaner changes, paw wipes and where damp towels or bedding are left. Keep the routine easy to track. Do not add a humidifier merely because advice from a cold-climate country recommends one; consider the conditions in the room first.

Avoid DIY vinegar mixtures, concentrated essential oils and old bottles of home-brewed sprays. For brief comfort on a small intact area, a clean cool damp cloth may be tolerated, but it is not a treatment for parasites or infection. Do not repurpose ear, eye or oral products for the skin.

Assess nutrition at its real evidence level

A small randomized fatty-acid trial reported clinical-score improvement with specified preparations over ten weeks. It does not establish that every multi-ingredient skin supplement matches those preparations or produces a predictable result.

Kohepets' Salmoil salmon oil listing is an oil-format comparison. Review actual composition and the dog's existing diet rather than adding oil on top of several products with similar ingredients.

The gut–skin field is also developing. A 2025 probiotic investigation gave the study preparation to all participating dogs, without an untreated atopic group. It does not prove that any probiotic treats allergy or that absence of visible fleas identifies a gut cause.

Place Pure Majesty Pets within the agreed plan

Pure Majesty Pets skin-support chews are oral nutrition with fish oils, quercetin, phytoceramides and further ingredients. The colostrum and hydrolysed pork-liver base need consideration for food-sensitive dogs. Do not introduce the formula during an elimination diet without veterinary approval.

Use the current label if it fits, record tolerance and agree a follow-up. For overseas purchases, clarify the AVS personal pet-food import requirements for supplements. Compare delivered cost and storage, and keep prescribed care in place unless the vet changes it.
