joint comfort and mobility support in Singapore: local context
This edition is written for Singaporean dog owners in Singapore English. It is educational and does not replace an examination, diagnosis or treatment plan from a veterinarian.
- Local veterinary route: use a locally registered veterinarian for persistent, painful, recurring or sudden symptoms. The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) is the market-specific public authority reference used here.
- Climate and storage: Singapore is warm and humid throughout the year. Dry paws, skin folds and ears after rain, keep drinking water fresh, and store products away from heat and moisture. Climate alone cannot identify the cause of a symptom. Keep drinking and bathroom habits together in your care notes. For a dog whose vet is discussing nutritional bladder support, the guide to bladder-support ingredients and product labels helps clarify which products you are actually comparing. For a closer look at the question raised here, read Dog Ear Wax: What the Colour Means and What It Cannot Prove | Singapore Guide.
- Market buying check: compare active amounts, format, weight-based directions, contraindications, cost per day and current local availability. Imported and domestic listings can change; verify the live page before buying.

How to use this joint comfort and mobility support guide
This guide focuses on Beransa for Dogs: Librela's Singaporean Name, Explained. There is no single product or routine that fits every dog: age, body weight, diet, medication, symptoms and diagnosed conditions all affect the right choice.
- Define the goal first: note the sign you are tracking and its frequency before changing a routine.
- Compare labels, not slogans: check active amounts per daily serving, directions, cautions, storage instructions and the full ingredient list.
- Change one thing at a time: follow the label and your veterinarian’s advice so benefits or unwanted effects can be assessed clearly.
- Escalate promptly: sudden pain, collapse, breathing difficulty, repeated vomiting, bleeding, eye injury, inability to urinate or rapidly worsening symptoms need veterinary care rather than a supplement experiment. For a separate nutritional-support decision, compare eye supplements and what canine research supports rather than assuming an oral supplement replaces examination or eye treatment.
What bedinvetmab does — and what it does not do
A damaged, inflamed joint releases nerve growth factor. NGF sensitises the nerves around that joint so that ordinary movement registers as pain. Bedinvetmab is an antibody built to bind NGF before it reaches those nerves (Gearing et al., BMC Veterinary Research 2013). It is cleared slowly — mean half-life after a first dose was 19.1 days — which is what makes monthly dosing possible. Considering CBD as another part of a comfort plan? The CBD oil comparison lets you compare mg per mL and testing details before discussing a product with your veterinarian. For a closer look at the question raised here, read Joint Infiltration in dogs: Veterinary Guidance guide and evidence | Singapore Guide. The separate guide, Joint Supplements for Dogs: A Label-First Comparison | Singapore Guide, explains the choices in more detail. For the comparison criteria behind this choice, see What Can I Give My Dog for Joint Pain? Safe Options | Singapore Guide.
- Five strengths: Beransa 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 mg Solution for Injection for Dogs.
Does it work? The numbers, not the brochure
Read the third row carefully, because it reframes the decision. Against a cheap, familiar NSAID, bedinvetmab did not deliver measurably better pain relief — it delivered fewer adverse events and better study completion. For a dog whose stomach cannot tolerate an NSAID, or one on medication that rules NSAIDs out, that is a genuinely strong argument. As a blanket upgrade for every arthritic dog, the evidence is thinner than the marketing suggests. For the comparison criteria behind this choice, see Collagen for Arthritic Dogs: A Singapore Guide to Realistic Support.
One more thing worth knowing before you judge the first month: Conzemius and Evans measured a caregiver placebo effect of roughly 40% when owners assessed lameness in arthritic dogs. Take a ten-second video of your dog rising and walking on injection day, and another two weeks later. Compare the footage, not your memory of it.
- Farrell et al. (Front Vet Sci 2025) ran a specialist-led disproportionality analysis of the EMA's EudraVigilance database against six comparator drugs. Ligament and tendon injury, polyarthritis, fracture, musculoskeletal neoplasia and septic arthritis were reported about nine times more frequently in bedinvetmab-treated dogs than in all comparators combined; an 18-member expert panel reviewing 19 cases unanimously reported a strong suspicion of a causal association with accelerated joint destruction. Three published Comments in the same journal contest it, and disproportionality analysis of voluntary reports cannot by itself prove causation. For the broader mobility decision, use the joint supplement comparison to compare the whole formula and the evidence for each ingredient. The separate guide, Elbow Dysplasia in Dogs: Signs, Treatment & Joint Care | Singapore Guide, explains the choices in more detail.
- An Singaporean appraisal. Yang and colleagues published a critical appraisal of the safety of bedinvetmab in the Australian Veterinary Journal (2026;104:549-556), arguing that rapidly progressive osteoarthritis is not a defined entity in dogs and that causation linked to bedinvetmab is unproven. It is the most useful single document for an Singaporean owner who wants the profession's own reading rather than a wire story.
The practical takeaway is unglamorous and useful: if your dog develops a new swollen or painful joint while on Beransa, ask for imaging and ask your vet to report it. Regulators everywhere have noted how few musculoskeletal reports arrive with radiographs attached, which is precisely what keeps the question unresolved.
On supplements themselves, the largest meta-analysis in the field is blunt. Barbeau-Grégoire and colleagues ranked omega-3-enriched diets and omega-3 supplements at the top for analgesic efficacy, found only weak support for collagen, and reported a "very marked non-effect" of chondroitin-glucosamine products for pain. We publish that plainly even though glucosamine is in our own range, because it is the reason our formula looks the way it does rather than the way the shelf does. Before adding collagen to an older dog’s routine, use the collagen comparison by type and dose to check the collagen type, measured serving and ingredient overlap. Comparing collagen with another joint ingredient? The glucosamine buying guide shows how to compare glucosamine forms, measured amounts and combination products. For the comparison criteria behind this choice, see Gupta 2012: How 10mg of UC-II Beat 3,600mg of Glucosamine + Chondroitin in Dogs (Force-Plate Confirmed) | Singapore Guide.
When to call your vet
Contact your practice promptly if a dog on Beransa develops a newly swollen or painful joint, a sudden worsening of lameness, an inability to bear weight, wobbliness or loss of coordination, a seizure, weakness or dragging of the hind legs, facial swelling or intense itching after an injection, or collapse. Tell your vet before the first dose if your dog has any history of immune-mediated disease or seizures.
Never fill a gap with a human painkiller. Ibuprofen, naproxen and paracetamol are all dangerous to dogs.

Frequently asked questions
Is Beransa the same thing as Librela?
Can my dog have a joint supplement while on Beransa?
Ask your own vet, who knows the full medication list. A joint supplement is a feed product working on daily nutritional support, not an analgesic that blocks pain signalling, so the two are not substitutes for each other. Disclose everything your dog receives, supplements included.
