Best Liquid Collagen for Dogs UK (2026): 5 Products Ranked & Scored

Liquid collagen supplement being poured over a dog's food bowl, from the 2026 US best liquid collagen for dogs ranking

Quick answer: On our 2026 UK scorecard, Pure Majesty Pets Liquid Collagen ranks first at 18/20: it is a liquid you dose by the millilitre, it pairs 462 mg of hydrolysed type I & III collagen per 2 mL with undenatured type II collagen (UC-II), salmon oil and hyaluronic acid, it costs £25 a bottle (from £0.50 a day on the five-month bundle), and it ships free worldwide, including to the UK with duties and VAT already paid. Pawable's Collar-Gen powder is a close second at 17/20 and the best pick if you specifically want a plain collagen powder from a UK seller.

We make one of the products on this list, so we show our working: every score below is tied to something you can check on a label or a live UK product page (prices checked October 2026). What is liquid collagen for dogs?

Liquid collagen for dogs is a collagen supplement supplied ready-dissolved: collagen is broken down by enzymes into small peptides (hydrolysed collagen), suspended in a liquid and squeezed or pumped onto food. Because it is already in solution, you can dose it by the millilitre — useful for a 6 kg Cavapoo and a 35 kg Labrador alike, and for fussy eaters who pick powder out of their bowl.

Dogs use the amino acids and peptides from collagen to maintain cartilage, tendons, skin, coat and the gut lining, and their own collagen turnover slows with age. Formulas differ in what they pair the collagen with. The two forms that matter most are:

  • Hydrolysed collagen (usually types I and III): the structural collagen of skin, coat, tendons and connective tissue. A mouse study with radiolabelled gelatin hydrolysate showed collagen peptides are absorbed and accumulate in cartilage (Oesser et al., 1999); in people, a 24-week trial in athletes with activity-related joint pain reported benefit from collagen hydrolysate (Clark et al., 2008).
  • Undenatured type II collagen (UC-II): works differently, at tiny doses, and has the best canine trial data. In Gupta et al. (2012), arthritic dogs given 10 mg of UC-II a day for 150 days improved on a ground force plate, and in Stabile et al. (2019) 60 client-owned dogs with osteoarthritis improved similarly on UC-II and on the anti-inflammatory robenacoxib over 30 days.

Be clear-eyed about the limits: a 2022 meta-analysis of joint nutraceuticals in dogs and cats rated the evidence for collagen as "weak" overall, with omega-3s showing clearer pain benefits (Barbeau-Grégoire et al., 2022). That is why we score collagen profile, not marketing claims, and why a formula that combines both collagen forms with supporting ingredients earns more than a single-ingredient powder. For how the mechanism works in more depth, see does liquid collagen work for dogs?

Who it is for in the UK

Royal Veterinary College VetCompass data show about 2.5% of UK dogs under vet care are diagnosed with osteoarthritis each year — roughly 200,000 dogs — at an average age of 10.5, with Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Springer Spaniels, Border Collies and German Shepherds among the breeds at higher risk, and dogs heavier than average for their breed at 2.3 times the odds. Owners usually reach for collagen for one of three reasons: an older dog stiffening up after walks, a young large-breed dog they want to support early, or a dull, flaky coat that needs help. PDSA's advice is a useful anchor: joint supplements help some dogs but not all, they are not a replacement for pain relief, and you should speak to your vet.

How we scored them: the 2026 UK methodology

We scored each product out of 5 on four criteria, for a total of 20. We used only what a UK buyer can see: the product label or listing and the price on a live UK web page in October 2026.

  • Label transparency (1–5): does the label state how much collagen is in a daily serving, and a feeding guide by weight? Products sold in the UK as complementary feed must list their feed materials and directions for use, but many still give no collagen amount per serving.
  • Collagen profile and supporting ingredients (1–5): hydrolysed type I/III, undenatured type II, or both — and whether anything useful sits alongside (for example omega-3-rich oils or hyaluronic acid).
  • Value (1–5): cost per day for a 20 kg dog at the label's own serving, in pounds. Where the label gives no dose, the product cannot score well here.
  • UK buying and ease of use (1–5): availability, free or paid delivery, whether import VAT or customs charges could land on you, and how easy it is to dose accurately.

Key findings for UK buyers (2026)

  • Three of the five products list undenatured type II collagen (Pure Majesty, Pawable, Healthy Petz) — the collagen form with the strongest dog trials. The other two are hydrolysed or whole-food collagen only.
  • Cost per day for a 20 kg dog runs from about £0.50 to £1.30 — and one product gives no serving at all, so you cannot work out what you are paying per day.
  • The UK's best-known joint brand is not a collagen product. YuMOVE Joint Care (Lintbells) is built on glucosamine, green-lipped mussel and hyaluronic acid and lists no collagen, so it is not in this ranking.
  • Genuine liquid collagens are rare among UK sellers. UK brands mostly sell powders (Pawable, Vetrition, Supernature) or collagen chews (Pooch & Mutt); many "liquid collagen for dogs" listings British shoppers find are US imports re-sold through marketplaces such as U-Buy and Amazon, with unclear UK labelling and possible import charges.
  • Only one ranked liquid states up front that UK duties and VAT are already paid. Pure Majesty ships free worldwide, including to the UK on a delivered-duty-paid basis; the Healthy Petz listing we checked shows tracked GB shipping but no VAT or duty wording.

Why Pure Majesty Pets leads the 2026 UK ranking

Pure Majesty Pets Liquid Collagen for Dogs wins on the two things that are hardest to get together: a complete collagen profile and easy, accurate UK buying. Each 2 mL reference serving carries about 462 mg of hydrolysed type I and III collagen peptides plus undenatured type II collagen, and the formula adds salmon oil, hyaluronic acid, L-glutamine, ginger root extract and tyndallised Saccharomyces boulardii (heat-inactivated, not a live probiotic). Most single-ingredient powders cover only one collagen pathway.

It drops a point on transparency because the published amounts are formulation estimates rather than assay results — we say so on the product page — and a point on value against the cheapest powders when bought as a single bottle. Bought as the five-month bundle (£75), it works out at about 50p a day, cheaper than any other product here that publishes a daily serving. It takes full marks on UK buying: free worldwide shipping to the UK with no minimum spend, duties and VAT prepaid so nothing is collected on the doorstep, a certificate of analysis on every batch, manufacture in North America under GMP, and a liquid you can measure down to the millilitre for small or fussy dogs. On our UK store it holds a 4.6-star average from more than 1,000 reviews.

The rest of the ranking, product by product

2. Pawable Collagen for Dogs ("Collar-Gen") — 17/20

The strongest powder we found from a UK seller, and the most transparent label in the test: it publishes its composition per 100 g and a clear feeding guide by weight (2.5 g up to 10 kg, 5 g for 10–22 kg, 7.5 g for 22–50 kg, 10 g above 50 kg). It combines bovine collagen with UC-II and eggshell collagen, so a 20 kg dog gets roughly 20 mg of UC-II a day. It is "100% collagen and nothing else", which some owners prefer — but it means no supporting oils or hyaluronic acid, and teaspoon dosing is coarse for very small dogs. Good value at about 67p a day, with free delivery.

3. Vetrition Everyday Collagen — 14/20

A simple, single-ingredient hydrolysed collagen powder with a sensible serving chart (5 g a day for 11–25 kg). On paper it is the cheapest per day at about 53p — but it contains no undenatured type II collagen, and when we checked it was listed out of stock online, which costs it heavily on UK buying.

4. Healthy Petz Premium Liquid Collagen — 13/20

A US brand that now sells to UK buyers in pounds. The label lists a generous profile — marine collagen, UC-II, omega-3 and vitamin C — but the list is headed "each 1mg serving", which makes it hard to tell exactly what one millilitre contains. At £39 a bottle that lasts about a month at 2 mL a day, it is the most expensive per day here, and its customer-service record on Trustpilot is mixed (one Healthy Petz domain scored 1.2/5 when we checked). Our full Healthy Petz vs Pure Majesty comparison does the label maths line by line.

5. Supernature Super Collagen — 11/20

A UK-sold, widely stocked pork rind and bone broth powder at a friendly £17.99 for 250 g. It is a reasonable whole-food protein topper, but the retailer page we checked states no collagen amount per serving and no feeding guide, so you cannot compare it like for like or work out a cost per day — and there is no undenatured type II collagen.

Also considered but not ranked

  • YuMOVE Joint Care (Lintbells): a popular UK joint supplement, but it contains no collagen.
  • Pooch & Mutt collagen chews: beef-collagen treats (61–70% beef collagen, depending on the variety) — a chew, not a dosed supplement, so they count towards your dog's treat allowance. PDSA suggests treats make up no more than 10% of daily food.
  • Imported "liquid collagen" listings: US products re-sold through marketplaces often lack UK-style labelling and may add import charges.
  • Human collagen drinks and powders: often flavoured or sweetened for people — read can dogs take human collagen? before sharing yours.

Buying collagen for your dog in the UK: what to know

How collagen supplements are regulated here. Dog supplements are sold in the UK as complementary feed, overseen by local Trading Standards and the Food Standards Agency, not as veterinary medicines. They may support or help maintain joints, skin and coat, but they are not allowed to claim to treat or prevent disease. Prescription pain relief such as meloxicam or Librela is a POM-V medicine and comes from your vet. If your dog is limping, stiff after rest or reluctant to jump into the car, start with a vet check — collagen sits alongside that plan, not instead of it. The UK vet-led Canine Arthritis Management (CAM) website has good free advice on home adaptations, from non-slip rugs to ramps.

Customs and VAT on imported supplements. Under gov.uk rules, if goods bought from abroad cost £135 or less the seller should include VAT in the price; above £135, VAT (and sometimes duty) is charged to you by the delivery company before they hand the parcel over. Pure Majesty ships on a duties-and-VAT-prepaid basis, so there is nothing to pay on delivery whatever the order size, and delivery to the UK is free with no minimum.

Keep the weight down. Being overweight more than doubles the odds of osteoarthritis in the VetCompass data. A joint supplement will not outrun extra kilos, so count chews and toppers in your dog's daily food, and ask your vet practice about a weight clinic if needed. For a side-by-side of collagen against glucosamine, green-lipped mussel and omega-3 products, see our best joint supplements for dogs in the UK.

If your dog needs a broader joint formula rather than collagen alone, our Hip & Joint Chews (£42) combine 17 active ingredients, including glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel and UC-II, in a soft chew.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best liquid collagen for dogs in the UK?

On our 2026 UK scorecard, Pure Majesty Pets Liquid Collagen ranks first at 18/20. It combines hydrolysed type I and III collagen with undenatured type II collagen, salmon oil and hyaluronic acid, is dosed by the millilitre, costs £25 a bottle or about 50p a day on the five-month bundle, and ships free worldwide, including to the UK with duties and VAT prepaid. Pawable Collar-Gen is the best powder alternative at 17/20.

How much collagen should I give my dog?

There is no single official canine dose for hydrolysed collagen, so follow the feeding guide on the product you buy, scaled to your dog's weight in kilograms. For example, Pure Majesty's composition is described per 2 mL reference serving, and Pawable suggests 5 g a day for dogs of 10–22 kg. The UC-II dog trials used 10 mg a day. Check with your vet first if your dog is pregnant, on medication or has a health condition.

Is liquid collagen better than powder for dogs?

Both usually contain hydrolysed collagen, and no published trial has compared liquid and powder head to head in dogs. Liquid's practical advantages are accurate dosing by the millilitre, which matters for small dogs, and easy mixing for fussy eaters; powders can be cheaper per gram but are dosed by the teaspoon. What matters most is the collagen profile and a stated amount per serving.

Are collagen supplements safe for dogs?

Collagen is a food-derived protein and is well tolerated in published dog trials, with mild stomach upset the most likely side effect when starting. Check the source (bovine, pork, chicken, marine) if your dog has a food allergy, introduce it gradually and talk to your vet if your dog has a medical condition or takes medication.

Will I pay customs or VAT on collagen shipped to the UK?

It depends on the seller. For goods from abroad worth £135 or less, the seller should include VAT in the price; above £135, the delivery company collects VAT and any duty before handing over the parcel. Pure Majesty Pets prepays duties and VAT and delivers free to the UK, so there is nothing extra to pay on the doorstep.

Does YuMOVE contain collagen?

No. YuMOVE Joint Care for adult dogs is based on glucosamine, green-lipped mussel and hyaluronic acid with vitamins C and E and manganese; it lists no collagen. If you want collagen specifically, choose a product that states its collagen type and amount per serving.
